Our Cuba group tours are priced to stay in Authentic Casa Particulares (Casa’s). Also known as Cuban B&B’s or Guesthouses, this type of accommodation provides a unique cultural experience. The Casa rooms we book are inclusive of air-conditioning and ensuite bathroom facilities.


Politically isolated until very recently for half a century, Cuba offers a matchless window into an alternative world view that is ripe for capturing as imagery. This Cuba photography tour allows you to zoom in on a warm and embracing culture, natural beauty, and stunning colonial architecture. You will get the opportunity to capture the stuttering vintage American vehicles that act as Havana’s taxi fleet, lively street theatre performances, gently crumbling facades and the everyday lives of cigar smoking grandmothers and the spectacular Colonial house to photograph ballet dancers, all from the best vantage points and under the expert guidance of Louis Alarcon.


As your Cuba photography tour begins you will be shown how to interact with the locals and told what to avoid photographing, so you can snap away without worry from the first hours. Expert tuition is on hand to help with camera configuration, colour combination, proper lens use and how to deal with brightness and shade. The second day of the Cuba photo tour sees you visit a vintage gym in Havana to photograph this special atmosphere. You will also have the opportunity to meet and photograph some of Cuba’s most enigmatic people: an Afro-Cuban priest and dancers, tobacco farmers in Viñales and training boxers. There will also be a focus on the country’s spectacular architecture, and the revolutionary graffiti of the capital.

You will be accompanied by a local English-speaking guide who will share their knowledge with you throughout your Cuba photography tour.

You will be accommodated in casas particulares, unique Cuban forms of bed and breakfast in which ordinary Cuban families host you in specially prepared private rooms.

Breakfasts, lunches and dinners are included as part of the tour, meaning less time worrying about food and more time taking photographs.

The tour boasts the expert tuition of local Cuban photographer Louis Alarcon, who will show you how to get the best of your camera.


Transport between Havana and Viñales, your two Cuba photo tour destinations, in comfortable private air conditioned vehicles is included.

Louis Alarcon (b.1974) is a bilingual documentary photographer based in Havana, Cuba. His tour focuses on Cuba beyond the stereotypes, reflecting everyday experience of the Cuban people. He works in color and black and white photography.

Louis has been leading photo tours and private workshops in Cuba since 2008.

He is in charge of the international account of Cuba on Instagram (IgersCuba).

Louis started one of the most popular Cuba Youtube channels. Every 12 hours, a video of Cuba is uploaded to his channel that has had millions of visitors

Louis is a member of several photographic associations in Cuba, USA and Europe.

With most of the Cuba photography tour taking place within Havana, the only travel you have to take into account is the journey to your second destination, Viñales, which takes approximately 3 hours. This means only a minimum amount of time on your tour will be spent travelling rather than photographing.

4worldlovers: Somewhere around May 2012, a friend of mine drove across Havana to drop off a sack of books. “They’re good, not great. I don’t have room for them.” Who has room in their life for good, not great, books? Neither me, nor my friend apparently. But as I looked at that yellow bag of books month after month, an idea began to brew: what if Havana had an English-language bookstore and coffeehouse where Cubans and visitors of all types could sit in a hammock with a classic book, sip a delicious cappuccino and make new friends?

And so Cuba Libro was born. In 2013, we set out to build a community around great coffee, art and literature using ethical, sustainable business practices. We would be an oasis of green space and a safe space – zero tolerance for discrimination and 100% alcohol-free – with the best coffee at the best prices, the happiest work team, books galore and cool cultural events. Everyone told us it would fail.

Fast forward 10 years. We didn’t fail. On the contrary. As we near our 10-year anniversary, we are very proud to announce that Cuba Libro is now an official Proyecto de Desarrollo Local. Being a local development project means we can do much more with our donation and other community support programs, maximize our local impact, and continue to strengthen community más allá (farther afield). We have a lot of exciting initiatives underway and several in the pipeline.
