Jakera was founded in the mid-90s in the humble fishing village of Playa Colorada, Venezuela, which still serves as the base for our Jakera Club Foundation today. We started by taking groups of travelers into remote areas of the country, such as the Orinoco Delta, where we met the Warao people. The Warao have inhabited this part of the country for the past 20,000 years and are a friendly and hospitable people who live a simple life of hunting and gathering. They have no bad words in their language and no way of offending anyone.

Jakera have earned a reputation for doing things a bit differently and having as much fun as possible while doing so. In the early 90s, Chris Patterson, the company’s CEO, started running jungle adventure programs into the Orinoco Delta, where he learned about the culture and ancient ways of the Warao people.
